A Bit About EMU

 

An EMU education helps students to find their purpose in life and prepare to make a difference for the common good at home and around the world. EMU’s rigorous academics emphasize one-on-one relationships with professors, cross-cultural awareness, care for creation, and service to others.

 

EMU is small enough that you can easily get to know classmates and faculty in various programs. Professors are mentors who know you personally and advise you 1:1. You can get involved in a variety of activities like theater, Student Government Association, campus ministry, intramural sports or inter-collegiate sports, music or choir. All of these provide opportunities to learn more about yourself and develop valuable experiences for your future resume.

 

EMU also features its unique Cross-cultural experience.  Cross-cultural study is cherished by the alumni of EMU. Since the “cross-cultural” is a requirement for earning a bachelor’s degree at EMU,it has become a common experience that distinguishes EMU grads and makes them particularly proud of their time at EMU. Most students decide to become immersed in another culture for a whole semester, usually in Africa, Asia, Latin America or the Middle East.  Cross-culturals are more than study abroad opportunities. Graduates call the experiences “life-changing,” giving them the foundation they need to live, lead and serve in a global context.

 

EMU graduates earn more than a degree – they discern their purpose in life and are prepared to lead the organizations they serve for the common good. EMU alumni are successful business people, practitioners and professionals.  Nearly 90% of EMU grads find work in their field of study within a year of graduation. Employers hire EMU graduates at all levels because of their strong morals and values, respect for others, desire to make a difference, communication and critical thinking skills, and self-confidence.
